How Choose A Cruise is funded

Choose A Cruise provides free cruise guides, reviews, comparisons and planning tools.

To support the cost of producing and maintaining the website, we currently display third-party advertising through Google AdSense.

Google AdSense advertising

Advertisements displayed on Choose A Cruise may be selected and delivered by Google and its advertising partners.

Depending on your location, consent choices and advertising settings, advertisements may be:

  • based on the content of the page you are viewing;
  • based on general information such as your approximate location or device;
  • personalised using information about your interests or previous activity; or
  • shown without personalisation.

Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to deliver and measure advertisements where permitted.

Advertisements are separate from our editorial content

The appearance of an advertisement does not mean that Choose A Cruise recommends or endorses the advertiser, its products or its services.

Google selects and supplies advertisements through its advertising platform. We do not approve or personally recommend every advertisement displayed.

Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy, legality and availability of their own products, services and claims.

Advertising revenue does not determine:

  • which cruise lines we review;
  • the ratings we give;
  • the results produced by our Cruise Matchmaker;
  • the order of our recommendations; or
  • the opinions expressed in our editorial content.

Our independence

Choose A Cruise operates independently of cruise lines, travel agents and tour operators.

Our guides, comparisons and recommendations are based on our research and editorial judgement. We aim to distinguish clearly between editorial content and paid advertising.

Affiliate links

We do not currently earn commission from cruise-booking links.

If we introduce affiliate links in the future, we may receive a commission when someone follows a qualifying link and completes a booking or purchase. This would not normally increase the price paid by the visitor.

Affiliate content will be identified clearly before or at the point where visitors interact with it.

Where an article contains affiliate links, we will use wording such as:

Advertisement – affiliate links: This article contains affiliate links. If you make a booking or purchase after following one of these links, Choose A Cruise may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. This does not affect our editorial independence.

Sponsored content and complimentary experiences

If we receive payment, a complimentary cruise, travel, accommodation, products or another significant benefit in connection with a piece of content, we will disclose this clearly.

Depending on the arrangement, the content may be labelled:

  • Advertisement;
  • Sponsored;
  • Advertisement feature; or
  • Gifted experience.

Receiving payment or a complimentary experience does not guarantee a positive review.

Bookings and third-party providers

Choose A Cruise is not currently a travel agent, tour operator or booking provider.

Any booking made after following an advertisement or external link is made directly with the relevant third party and is subject to that provider’s:

  • prices and availability;
  • booking conditions;
  • cancellation policy;
  • privacy policy; and
  • customer-service arrangements.

You should check the provider’s information carefully before making a booking or payment.
