Virgin Voyages reimagines what it means to dine at sea. There are no cavernous main dining rooms, rigid set menus, or stuffy dress codes.
Instead, the experience is a floating festival for food lovers, where every restaurant is included in the fare and each meal feels like a discovery. With more than 20 distinctive venues on board, the dining is fresh, inventive, and deliciously defiant.
On a Virgin Voyages ship, the traditional main dining room is nowhere to be seen. In its place is a collection of stylish, intimate restaurants, each with its own concept and atmosphere, that would feel perfectly at home in London’s most fashionable postcodes. Passengers are free to dine where and when they please, choosing from an impressive array of global cuisines.
Highlights include The Wake, an elegant steak and seafood restaurant that channels mid-century glamour, complete with sweeping views of the ship’s stern. For something more playful, Razzle Dazzle offers a vibrant, plant-forward menu alongside a few “naughty” meat options for those who fancy them.
For a more social and energetic evening, Gunbae delivers a lively Korean BBQ experience, where guests grill their own food at the table and are encouraged to join in with complimentary soju drinking games. Elsewhere, Pink Agave presents an elevated take on Mexican street food, with an extensive list of mezcals to explore. And for those with a passion for Italian cooking, Extra Virgin serves up handmade pasta and regional dishes that rival the best trattorias in Italy. For late-night cravings or casual daytime bites, The Galley acts as a chic, modern food hall with several different stations serving everything from tacos to sushi.
While all restaurants are included in the voyage fare, the quality is that of a premium, speciality venue. Each is helmed by accomplished chefs, with menus designed around fresh, high-quality ingredients. The Virgin Voyages approach is centred on providing choice and exceptional quality, rather than upselling. Every meal feels like a special occasion, whether it is enjoying oysters and champagne at The Wake or sharing Mediterranean-inspired small plates and rosé at The Dock.
The bars on a Virgin Voyages ship are destinations in their own right. From the convivial energy of On the Rocks, a martini and cocktail bar in the heart of the ship, to the relaxed, al fresco atmosphere of The Dock House, each venue has its own distinct personality. Sip Lounge is dedicated to champagne, serving a curated selection by the glass, while The Loose Cannon is a nautically-themed pub perfect for a bit of mischief. For entertainment, The Social Club keeps the atmosphere buzzing with classic arcade games and live music.
A key part of the experience is the absence of traditional drinks packages or pushy sales tactics. Passengers pay only for what they want. Drinks are reasonably priced for a premium setting, beautifully mixed and served with Virgin’s signature sense of style.
Menus across all restaurants are clearly marked with allergen information, and the crew are well-trained to handle dietary requests with care and attention. Those following vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free diets will find an abundance of creative and satisfying options in every venue. In fact, the plant-based dishes on Virgin Voyages are widely considered to be among the best at sea, thoughtfully created rather than being a mere afterthought.
